This is a topic I have planned for an upcoming piece. It happens far too often that players of another class simply do not understand your own class, and for that matter everyone elses. The classes within WoW are so dynamic that there is a large gap in understanding between those who play [insert class here] and everyone else who does not.

What 3 core abilities, be they spec dependent or core class spells, would you most like to see every other player know and understand? These could lead to better teamwork in PvP, or cleaner, more concise raiding environments where, for instance, everyone understands how the Hunter Misdirection works.

This could certainly apply to any player within WoW, even for those blogs centering not on class mechanics but on other aspects. For that case, simply discuss your "main" class.

Cheers!

Interesting subject. I play a variety of classes, and I do understand most of the core abilities to those who I don't play, but I'll give it some thought for reflection purposes.

My main is a warrior and I have tried playing other clases but I just like the warrior class. I have an pretty good understanding of all classes main abilities due to my friends cover all the classes and it certainly helps to know the core abilities of other classes when playing PVP as it gives you a little bit of an advantage and also within PVE it helps when choosing classes for instance runs to know what abilites would be best for certain scenarios.

Obviously all just my opinion lol

The way I am going to write it is this: to explain to anyone reading who may not play the Rogue class (my main/only class at this stage, haven't played my priest in years) what abilities I will be using that set me apart from the other DPS in the raid. For instance, Feint. With the changes to Feint, that I know many Rogues still haven't realized is in place, it is plausible/acceptable/expected for Rogue's to stay on target during AoE blasts. Point in case, Emalon. If a Rogue runs out of range of a nova from Emalon he/she is not doing her job and is hurting the raid because they should be continuing to DPS on target having applied Feint to reduce AoE damage by 50%. That is the kicker though, it reduces damage by 50%, not 100%. That being said, it is necessary for the healers to understand 1) why your staying in the nova, 2) that you will live if they continue to heal you after the nova, 3) you will beat the enrage timer much easier having 3k+ dps remain on the boss during those novas.

I cannot tell you how many times healers have neglected to heal me in VoA because I stayed in the nova simply and they felt I was a "noob" so they didn't toss me a heal and the next nova killed me. If healers knew how feint works, such could be avoided.

That is the angle I'll be writing from, giving 3 clear abilities that everyone should know about your class to make all aspects of life in WoW easier. It is true that the blogging community is well read/played on other classes, but not all blog readers are. I've been playing since day one and I will not pretend to be an expert on, say, enhancement shaman.

That's all, just thought I'd clarify a bit.

Cheers!

I see where you are coming from. I also use CoS on the nova (not without feint, as that has a chance to kill me) so I have a chance to stay on 100% hp every 2nd nova and 50% damage taken on the rest.

That is precisely what I mean! Very often classes simply do not understand those little intricate mechanics, and I would love to see a shared topic allowing for a writer from every class (potentially) sharing a wealth of knowledge that many of us simply wouldn't know.

OK, guys, THIS is why there is a strict 'no discussing topics in the thread' rule. The publishing day rolls around, and no one has posted. While it's fun to talk about the topics, conversation in a thread kills posts off. From this point forward, all posts discussing the topic will be deleted. This may seem harsh, but it undermines the whole concept of the Shared Topic.

Many Thanks,

Saresa

It also helps if the first post in a shared topic has a link to a blog post discussing that topic. It helps generate more ideas, and gives Saresa at least something to publish on Shared topic day!

Here's mine, at almost the last minute, as usual.

I wrote it before anyone else posted their take, hence the intro.
