I'm driving myself crazy.

When I first started blogging, I'd write from my point of view as a player; however, when I talked about my characters, I'd switch to third person.

Example: I logged in late on Tuesday, so I logged in Akromah, my paladin. She hopped on her mount and flew to Icecrown to mine a bit.

I looked at it this way: I am Kim, the player. I consider Akromah and Leota (my mage) separate entities from me. I'm in my chair, but Akromah is in Naxx. Leota gets skooshed by a Fel Reaver, but I'm alive and fine, albeit pissed.

But now it seems that I'm making things unnecessarily complicated with the switching between "I" and "She" through my posts.

I've seen blogs address this different ways - how do you write about your characters and why?

Thanks!
`Kim

I agree. No one will be confused if you say "I logged on as Akromah and hopped on my mount," and it's simpler for you. I say go first person all the way!

Nothing wrong with first person IMO. You are not your character, but your character is a representation/embodiment of you in the virtual world.

I would only use third person to describe RP traits of my character.

I always write in first person this is because, imo, it allows the readers to have a sort of connection with you as they are reading YOUR comments and not what your saying about someone/something

I never use the 3rd person.

I noticed myself doing the same thing, though I usually refer to Ice as a separate person when it's about doing something in-game, such as raiding or RP. Things like "Ice logged out and switched to Nef" wouldn't fly well mentally with me.

Maybe it's from the writing I do with Ice as the main character, mostly fan fiction stories. Then again, I AM on a roleplay server, so third-person switches are the norm.

I use both first and third person. When I talk about myself as the player, I definitely use 'I'. When I talk about my toons, sometimes I use 'I' and sometimes I use 'She' (all my toons are female) and sometimes both. I don't know if this causes any confusions or complications. No one complained lol!

First person for me. I don't separate myself from the character I play but I can see why some people would. All depends on how you want to write, there's no bad way. Probably best not to mix them though.
