I'd like to see other bloggers reactions to the Scourge's renewed attacks on Azeroth, both from their character's perpsective or from the perspective of you as a player.

If you choose to get a little RP-ish with it, tell us what impacts the invasion has had on your character's daily life.

Oh, and show some solidarity with the Dawn, if you are an opponent of the Scourge. Wear your Argent Dawn, Tabard of the Protector, or even your Scarlet Crusade tabards if you plan on seeking out and destroying the zombies, like me.

Light be with you all.

I actually just did this based on my experiences last night. (Hooray for posting during lunch hour.) My paladin's reaction to getting diseased was largely "Aaaaaahhhh! Get it off get it off get it off! Oh why isn't Cleanse working?!?!"

I'd heard that Cleanse worked, but it didn't do anything for me last night. I couldn't cleanse NPCs, other players, or even myself. I'm hearing now that it takes a few tries, so I guess I had a bad string of luck, but the RPer in me felt some panic in facing a disease my paladin couldn't fight. He got healed and I know to keep spamming Cleanse for next time, but it's going to be a trying time as a holy paladin. I'm sure it's going to get worse, but the side of me that is the player is looking forward to it.

We're five chapters into our pre-Northrend story on Flinthammer Hall, with another piece going up tonight/tomorrow. The actual Scourge invasion will be touched on next week.

Had I known what the pre-WotLK event would have entailed, we might have gone a totally different direction, but that's OK, too -- just more grist for the mill.

I was in two minds about the event last week - there's a fine line between Zombie fun and a license to grief - but the evolving story on Saturday and Sunday were really quite effective; my experiences on Saturday can be found at my own Witching Hour.

There were certainly a few issues:

1) The killing of quest mobs/flightmasters/auctioneers which made non-particupation quite tricky at times
2) The "Shattrath issue" wherein the sanctuary effect made dealing with the zombies a problem - they could walk up and zombify things but you couldn't attack them or cleanse their targets. Add to that the masses of recruits ...
3) Limited-time world events are always a little tricky for those who only play occasionally - go away for a few days and you miss a chunk of stuff (and with Kara being a 1-week reset, small guilds like my own nay struggle to get people who are interested through the content before it expires).

I had a little reflection on what happened since we're in a maintenance time, but in summary I had a blast:
http://dblbbl.com/content/maintenance-time-reflection

I tried to avoid getting infected, I tried to kill those that were infecting others. I avoided the major cities if I could, but when I did get the plagues, you had better believe I reveled in my new found abilities and really tried to infect as many people as possible.

I know there were a lot of people that didn't want or care to participate in this world event and found it to be too disruptive, but that was probably the point. Sure there were gameplay issues with it and I agree that Shattrath's sanctuary was problematic, but I believe it was meant to be memorable for those that got to experience it.

Was it annoying to do normal stuff like the AH? Yes. There were times where I just wanted to buy some materials but couldn't because I would become a zombie and die. So it disrupted a few things, but I was of the mindset that it was a plague, normal activities don't usually go on as they did. The game was changed for a bit and to me it was annoyingly refreshing.
