Let me preface this by saying (again) that I am learning all about blogging as I go along and that means I make some mistakes and ask a lot of dumb questions.

Todays question is : My blog is hosted by wordpress.com on their servers. I would like to add an image to my Header bar but can not find a way to do it. Also most of my google searches return CSS code and it just really confuses me.

Is there a simple way to add pictures into a blog ?

Examples :

My Blog Currently : http://wowtank.wordpress.com/ -- At the top where it says Dented Armor and than underneath of that my little saying I would like to put a picture behind it.

Example of what I am looking for : http://typhoonandrew.wordpress.com/ -- Nice picture at top.

Perhaps there is a paid upgrade I need to use or something I am entirely missing?

Standing in your shoes a bit ago, Wordpress is really a pain at times to figure out.

This is a list of WP themes that allow image header changes, as well as the size of the header allowed.

It can also be accessed through your Dashboard. Dashboard > Design. There's a pulldown tab you can set to show custom header.

Once you've picked a theme, back on the Dashboard menu, Dashboard > Design > Custom Image Header. Then use browse to upload a new image. Note: if your image does not match the required size of the image (listed on the linked list) you'll be prompted to crop your image to match.

Also a note: Paying to edit CSS doesn't allow you to change the image header size. That's linked to the theme itself and can't be changed unless you move to self-hosting.
