So my guild is hosting a secret admirer event in which willing participants place their names into the ring, then an event coordinator randomly pairs them up and they anonymously send each other love poems and gifts, with a big reveal party on Sunday.

I'm considering doing something similar for any willing bloggers out there. Essentially anyone interested would post here and then the event coordinator (myself, in this case) would PM them another blogger to admire. Each participating blogger would put up a post on their own blog regarding the event and linking to the other bloggers. The purpose of this is two-fold - exposure for the community, and something the secret admirer can respond to. Said admirer would do so under an anonymous handle, adding poetry or other comments, giving one subtle hint about their identity in each, for a total of three comments. The admired could then contact the event coordinator with a guess as to who their admirer is. At the end of the event, folks can make a new post with a final 'open declaration of blog love' for their assigned person, and of course links to the other posts if you so desire.

So in theory, this would work like so:

1. You respond here or send me an email or a tweet expressing interest in participating. I add your name to the list.
2. By a certain deadline, I send you a randomly selected blogger to admire.
3. You make a post on your own blog about the event so that your admirer can respond.
4. You respond to the post of the person you're admiring via an anonymous handle, once every day for three days, giving a hint to your identity in each comment.
5. At the end of the event, you write another post with an 'open declaration of blog love'. Get creative, write some snazzy (or horrible...) poetry or something!
6. If you want to guess at your admirer's identity before the deadline, contact me and I'll let you know if you're on the mark. I'm considering offering a custom designed RSS icon to the first person to correctly identify their admirer.

Ok, I have to admit checking out the secret admirer posts and comments on other people's blogs is really cool! /jealous. This was a really good idea and I hope it keeps it up. Kudos to everyone doing this.

I'm overwhelmed by the astounding support of this community. Seriously. This event did exactly what I was hoping for and then some. I'd love feedback though, and if folks are interested in doing another one sometime I'm sure it could be arranged.

I know I had a great time; however, for future events some more advance notice would be great:

1) to allow for greater participation
2) to allow the bloggers time to prepare
I know many, including myself, not only wrote on others' blogs, but also collected and mailed in game items. Because I had to roll a toon on a new server to mail, I was definitely feeling the time crunch! I also wasn't as happy with my adoration as I would have liked

And like Windsoar said, next time having some more notice would be better. But I think even with how short the notice was, it was a huge success and a lot of fun.

We can keep working on holiday events in the future to make them bigger & planned further in advance (like the Christmas holiday one). However, for a last minute thing, I really had a blast.
