What was the move like from using a blogging service to self hosting? I'll probably eventually make the same move. Are you able to bring your archive of posts with you, in some automated fashion maybe?

If you choose to use wordpress as I did you can import all Blogger posts ect
It was a pretty easy move outside of customisation, the framework on wordpress is amazing though and I can only recommend it.
