I write in my blog Mon-Fri while I'm at work. On Monday mornings, after a long weekend full of juicy details, should I make one post about what has happened or multiple postings?

Multiple posting would allow viewers to comment on different subjects and keep each reply more focused, but a single posting may encourage more comments.

Also, and this has probably been asked 1,000 times already, but what is the best way to advertise your blog?

As for posting, do whatever feels comfortable to you. Just realize that multiple posts may not necessarily be viewed by your usual reader base. Most bloggers (not all, not by a long shot) only post once per day, creating a routine for themselves and their readers. If you typically post early in the morning, your readers will likely become comfortable with your posting routine and create a routine for themselves to check out your posts.

I average around 1-2 posts per day. It depends on you and your energy level, primarily.

Conventional wisdom suggests that several shorter posts through the course of the day would be better - tends to encourage more visits.

That said, longer posts do tend to encourage more interaction.

It depends on which is more important to you.

Personally -- and this is entirely personal, understand -- I find shorter posts that focus on one topic easier to read and remember, and I am therefore more likely to comment on them. On the other hand, when you get to 5+ posts a day I have trouble keeping up. :>

If you are more comfortable with one long post, perhaps you could use headers to show changes in time or focus. If you use headers in a fairly standard way, I bet your readers will catch on quickly.
